Noir City 2012 Preview: The Glass Key (1942)

During the 2011 Noir City: Chicago the Music Box theatre planned to screen the 1942 film The Glass Key but received the 1935 version! A year later it is time to remedy the situation by screening the 1942 film of the same name as a special preview for Noir City: Chicago 4 (Friday, August 17th through Thursday, Aug 23rd).

Dashiell Hammett’s groundbreaking novel of big city corruption is given a brisk adaptation by noir scribe par excellence Latimer, and features charismatic performances from Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake. Ladd plays a savvy fixer mixed up in a murder case that could derail the ambitions of his boss, a politician with a shady past.
