Cruising

A film by William Freidkin

When a string of murders targets the underground gay community in New York City, detective Steve Burns (Al Pachino) has to go undercover to ferret out the killer. Fitting the description of the serial killer’s victims, dressed in leather and cruising S&M clubs, Burns quickly finds himself changing under his deep cover persona. The film’s frank look at the extremes of sexuality and its inclusion of unsimulated sex garnered it a seemingly unending amount of protest during production and distribution.
