The New World
A film by Terrence Malick
A singular interpretation of the Pocahontas story, Malick’s expert pacing allows the foreboding imagery of swampland and forest to subsume all human travails. The film’s minimal dialogue (characters speak on camera for less than a quarter of the film) and stream-of-consciousness narration creates a movie you feel more than watch.
