Trainspotting

Trainspotting

A film by Danny Boyle
Starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller

The Academy Award nominated screenplay follows a group of heroin addicts in a late 1980s economically depressed area of Edinburgh and their passage through life.

Danny Boyle’s explosive film tracks the misadventures of young men in Edinburgh trying to find their way out of joblessness, aimless relationships, and drug addiction. Some are successful, while others hopelessly are not. Based on Irvine Walsh’s novel, Trainspotting melds grit with poetry, resulting in a film of harsh truths and stunning grace.

I liked this movie, and not just because it made me loads of cash. It was a highly successful adaptation and I really don’t think that any group of people outside of Danny, Andrew and John could have pulled it of with quite the same panache. —Irvine Welsh
