It’s time once again for Second Saturday Silent Cinema! This month, we’re presenting the 1928 classic LILAC TIME, starring Colleen Moore and a young Gary Cooper. The film features some of the most death-defying stunts ever caught on film! Buy your advance tickets here!

Also, opening this Friday is a beautiful restoration of Marcel Carne’s CHILDREN OF PARADISE. Be sure to check out this very cool YouTube video that show’s a side-by-side comparison of the old version versus the restored version.

You know that Bob Marley documentary all your friends have been talking about? It’s called Marley and it opens at the Music Box tomorrow! The Boston Globe says: “It grabs one’s senses and won’t let go.”

Also opening tomorrow is In the Family from first time director Patrick Wang. Wang will be in attendance to present the film on Saturday at 8:30pm and Sunday at 1:30pm. Roger Ebert gives the film 4 stars!

Last but not least, National Theatre Live presents She Stoops to Conquer this Sunday!

This Thursday through Monday Design Directs Everything. Now in its third year, the Architecture and Design Film Festival is getting ready for a return to Chicago – the town renowned for its ongoing love affair with architecture. The Chicago festival, April 12-16, will be held at the Music Box Theatre.

With the Architecture and Design Film Festival taking place at the Music Box Theatre April 12th – 16th, we thought it appropriate to pay homage to some of silent cinema’s most outrageous architectural constructions. Screening are two Laurel and Hardy shorts, The Finishing Touch (1928) and Liberty (1929), and two Buster Keaton shorts, One Week (1920) and The High Sign (1921).

On Tuesday at 7pm Sundance award-winning documentary, Indie Game: The Movie, presented by Adobe®. Labeled “A big hearted celebration of the artistic spirit!” by IndieWire and a “Must See” by Ain’t It Cool News. The film follows the dramatic journeys of game developers as they create and release their games to the world. The event will include a Q&A with the directors and prizes from Adobe®.

On Wednesday we have the final regularly scheduled screening from the National Theatre of London for the season. Wed 18 Apr, 7:00pm and Sun 22 Apr, 1:00pm She Stoops to Conquer will screen. One of the great, generous-hearted and ingenious comedies of the English language, Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer offers a celebration of chaos, courtship and the dysfunctional family.

On Thu 19 Apr, 7:30pm join Sound Opinions hosts Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot for a special screening of D.A. Pennebaker’s Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars in honor of the concept album’s 40th anniversary.

Oh, and if the only thing you know about Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle is the name, you’d be well served to check out his Wikipedia page here. He literally invented the Hollywood scandal.
