We’ll be pulling out all the stops: timeless classics in breathtaking restoration prints, treasures from the days of the 70mm blowup, and plenty of surprises, all on our massive temporary 40 foot wide screen, installed just for this festival and The Hateful Eight. Whether you make it out to one film or all of them (we’ll be showing over a dozen!), you’ll never want to watch a movie without an overture again.

What is 70MM?
70MM film offers images of unequaled sharpness and clarity, with as much as four times the resolution of 35MM and digital projection. The film itself runs through the projector at 112 feet per minute and weighs about 40 pounds a reel. All this to provide the best motion picture experience possible, the culmination of over a century of engineering and artistry. 70MM is uniquely beautiful. Sunsets and landscapes take on a vibrant, earthbound presence, and close ups make their actors larger than life. As more light is pushed through the projector gate, contrast, color, and brightness are all increased: the whites are brighter and the blacks are deeper, the light is more intense, and colors are richer than anything possible with digital projection. This is film turned up to 11.
