This weekend, the Music Box is for lovers, so grab your best guy or gal and head down to the theatre as we celebrate the holiday!

On Valentine’s Day, come see The Princess Bride, the fairy tale that puts the “comedy” in “romantic comedy”, with swordplay, giants, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, and yes, some kissing. The interactive screening comes complete with prop bags, a pre-show costume contest, and more! Tickets on sale now.

Saturday afternoon, it’s time for our annual screening of the classic film Casablanca, beginning with a special “Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Sing-Along” featuring a selection of favorite love songs complete with projected lyrics and accompaniment from the Music Box organ. After the sing-a-long you and your sweetheart can hold hands, canoodle, and watch Bogart and Bergman in the timeless Casablanca, one of the great romantic films of all time. Tickets on sale now.

And if you’re not the sentimental type, come by for our midnight screenings of My Bloody Valentine. We’re screening a vintage 35mm print of this holiday slasher, featuring extra gore never shown theatrically!

Scaling the Cliffs of Insanity, Battling Rodents of Unusual Size, Facing torture in the Pit of Despair. – True love has never been a snap.

This beloved classic fairytale begins with a grandfather reading his favorite book “The Princess Bride” to his hard-to-impress grandson. This book, he promises, has everything – “Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Revenge. Giants. Monsters. Chases. Escapes. True love. Miracles.” – and all that he promised comes to life before the boy’s enchanted eyes as his grandfather reads him the adventures of Buttercup, the most beautiful woman in the world, and Westley, the man she loves. Along the way they encounter a Spanish swordsman, a gentle giant, and the six-fingered villain, Count Rugen.

Has a greater love story ever been told? Inconceivable.

Casablanca

A film by Michael Curtiz starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman

Casablanca: easy to enter, but much harder to leave, especially if you’re wanted by the Nazis. Such a man is Resistance leader Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), whose only hope is Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart in one of his most memorable roles), a cynical American who sticks his neck out for no one—especially Victor’s wife, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), the ex-lover who broke his heart.

Ilsa offers herself in exchange for Laszlo’s transport out of the country and bitter Rick must decide what counts more—personal happiness or countless lives hanging in the balance.

Winner of three Academy Awards including “Best Picture,” Casablanca remains one of Hollywood’s greatest treasures more than 70 years after it first lit up the screen.
