An entire generation of horror filmmakers owes a debt to Ginger Snaps. Released at the turn of the millennium, John Fawcett’s Canadian feminist werewolf movie was an early entry into the menstrual-horror subgenre, taking the coming-of-age of a suburban outcast and turning it into a sharp and subversive werewolf story. Katharine Isabelle stars as Ginger, the elder of two death-obsessed sisters who’s attacked by a werewolf on the same night she starts her first period.
