Director Mimi Wilcox and Producer Max Asaf in attendance for a post-film Q&A moderated by haydée souffrant, Manager of Filmmaker Programs at Kartemquin Films
After the filmmaker’s grandmother was held hostage, she shocked her small town by declaring that she felt more threatened by the police than by the men holding her hostage – and she wasn’t the only woman that year to do so. In this documentary directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Mimi Wilcox, a thrilling piece of family lore intersects with the famous kidnapping of Patty Hearst and a dramatic bank heist in Sweden in an interrogation of the concept of Stockholm Syndrome. Winner of the Bend Film Festival Special Jury Award and shortlisted by the International Documentary Association as one of the best documentaries of 2024, Bad Hostage comes back home to the Music Box for its Chicago Premiere!
