Programmed and Presented by SUPER-HORROR-RAMA!
Featuring a pre-recorded introduction by producer Johan Vandewoestijne!
Surprise! March 27 & 28, we're screening movies about deadly birthdays to celebrate our 1-Year Anniversary at the Music Box Theatre! Programmed by John McDevitt, these films unleash demonic entities and powerful grannies—it's their party, too, and they'll kill if they want to! Find a spare candle, blow it out, and make a wish...to survive our twisted birthday ritual!
In Rabid Grannies, two sweet, elderly ladies celebrate their birthday with family at their enormous country mansion. The festivities are not long underway when the two old dears open a mysterious gift that transforms them into flesh-hungry demons! The terrified partygoers scatter as, one by one, they meet a gruesome end at the clawed hands of the ghoulish geriatrics. One of the few feature-length horror movies to emerge from Belgium in the 1980s, Emmanuel Kervyn’s Rabid Grannies was a passion project for producer Johan Vandewoestijne, serving as the Flemish answer to the early splatter films of Peter Jackson (Bad Taste, Dead Alive).
Every ticket includes a Limited Edition Pinback Button (new design each night), and every show kicks off with Giveaways donated by The Shadowboxery, Cryptid Craft Studio, Groovy Doom, and Full Bleed for the first folks who answer our trivia questions. The category is birthday horror, so get ready!
We're also screening Alison's Birthday (1981) on Friday, March 27 at 11:45pm!
SUPER-HORROR-RAMA!'s March screenings are sponsored by Reed's Local!
