Virtually the entire cast of Part I was replaced for the sequel, one of the biggest successes of Tsui Hark’s Film Workshop. The story picks up a year later as Fox (Jet Li) and Kiddo (Michelle Reis) learn that the sacred book from Part I has fallen into the hands of Asia the Invincible (Brigitte Lin), a man who has changed his sex in the process of acquiring unthinkable power. As part of her plan of conquest, Asia the Invincible has imprisoned the father of a woman to whom Fox is beholden, drawing Fox into an inevitable showdown with Asia. Considered the archetypal new-wave swordplay film, with wire-enhanced fight choreography that has seldom been surpassed. - Hong Kong Babylon
Music Box Theatre screens films of all genres and from every era of cinema, both new releases and repertory. These films may sometimes contain upsetting, outdated, or offensive material. While we aim to introduce many of our screenings, we do not always provide warnings about potentially triggering content within the films we screen. We encourage our patrons to research the film before they attend using trailers, reviews, or content information found on Common Sense Media, IMDb and DoesTheDogDie.com.
