A screening of the classic silent horror film featuring Macie Stewart, Lia Kohl, and Whitney Johnson
Join us for a screening of the German silent horror film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), featuring a live original score by Chicago-based musicians Macie Stewart, Lia Kohl, and Whitney Johnson. Built the same decade as the release of Dr. Caligari, the Music Box is the perfect venue to experience the spine-chilling film in all its glory. You won’t want to miss Stewart, Kohl, and Johnson’s string trio, featuring violin, cello, viola, and voices, live alongside what Roger Ebert called “arguably one of the first true horror films.”
This program is generously underwritten by the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation.
Music Box Theatre screens films of all genres and from every era of cinema, both new releases and repertory. These films may sometimes contain upsetting, outdated, or offensive material. While we aim to introduce many of our screenings, we do not always provide warnings about potentially triggering content within the films we screen. We encourage our patrons to research the film before they attend using trailers, reviews, or content information found on Common Sense Media, IMDb and DoesTheDogDie.com.
