WELCOME SPACE BROTHERS tells the extraordinary true story of the Unarius Academy of Science, an extraterrestrial-channeling spiritual school founded in El Cajon, California, in the 1970s. Led by the dazzling Ruth E. Norman, AKA “Archangel Uriel,” Unarius became a wildly inventive and influential public-access television phenomenon in the 80s. The prolific DIY collective created films and videos that resembled outlandishly campy space epics but were, at their core, sincere therapeutic works addressing personal trauma. From The Source Family director Jodi Wille comes another mind-expanding journey into the frontiers of American belief, bringing her signature empathy, humor, and emotional insight to one of the nation’s most fascinating outsider communities. Executive producers include Elijah Wood, Moby, and Oscar-winning filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
