SATURDAY, APRIL 26TH

04:30pm - NOTEBOOK PRESENTS: ISHTAR (Elaine May, 1987, 107 min, 35mm)

LOST IN THE WORLD. A legendary flop that ended the career of its director, Elaine May's screwball buddy comedy has been reevaluated and reclaimed as the great, delightfully disjointed comedy that it is. Screening on 35mm.

Post-film conversation with Chloe Lizotte, Deputy Editor of MUBI Notebook, and Chicago writer Kat Sachs (“The Mythology of Elaine May”).

06:00pm - INHERENT VICE (Paul Thomas Anderson, 2014, 148 min, 70mm)

LOST IN THE SAUCE. In 1970s Los Angeles, a stoner private detective navigates a labyrinth of conspiracies, missing persons, and far-out characters as he investigates the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend. As PTA’s latest arrives this summer, we’ll still be trying to untangle the thorny knots of the American auteur’s first go-around with Thomas Pynchon.

06:30pm - HAPPY HOUR RECEPTION

Whether you’re leaving a film that just ended or going to one about to start, stop by The Music Box Lounge for a drink with us and your fellow cinephiles. We want to hear your review!

09:15pm - BLOW OUT (Brian De Palma, 1981,108 min, DCP)

LOST IN THE MACHINE. A sound technician accidentally records evidence of a deadly conspiracy, plunging him into a dangerous web of political intrigue, paranoia, and deception. Cleverly updating Michelangelo Antonioni's 1966 Blowup for The Reagan Years, Brian De Palma switches out the medium of photography for that of audio recording, and pinpoints the paranoid state of post-Watergate America.

SUNDAY, APRIL 27TH

11:45am - COOLEY HIGH: 50TH ANNIVERSARY (Michael Schultz, 1975, 107 min, 35mm)

LOST INNOCENCE. Set against the vibrant backdrop of 1960s Chicago, two best friends navigate the joys, mischief, and heartbreak of adolescence — capturing the spirit of youth in a changing world. Championed by filmmakers Spike Lee and John Singleton, this motown-scored classic of independent cinema is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

02:15pm - MAGIC FARM: SNEAK PEEK (Amalia Ulman, 2025, 92 min, DCP)

LOST IN THE INTERNET. A media crew mistakenly ends up in the wrong country while trying to profile a musician. As they collaborate with locals to create a viral trend, relationships form amid an unfolding health crisis. A MUBI Release.
