Picked by Will Hopper, Front of House
An executed killer (Brion James) haunts the house where a policeman (Lance Henriksen) lives with his wife (Rita Taggart) and children.
Will Says: Oft derided as the poor man’s Nightmare on Elm Street at the time of its release, 1989’s The Horror Show presents more of a fun, cartoonish scare-fest than its 0% Rotten Tomato rating would let on. A match made in Heaven between the director of Jason X and acclaimed screenwriter Alan Smithee brings us the story of Meat-Cleaver Max (Brion James), a mad cackling serial-killer who in his final breath swears vengeance, and is determined to keep that promise whether alive or dead. Max makes the most of his afterlife by haunting Lucas McCarthy (Lance Henriksen), the hell-bent detective who sent Max to the chair. Featuring behind the scenes alumni from both the works of Stuart Gordon and the Friday the 13th films, The Horror Show is gory, goofy and ripe for rediscovery by genre fans.
